Peter feels fortunate to be able to pursue a diverse career bridging music, technology, and product design. He designed one of the world’s first music download services, served as Technology Director at Haymarket, produced children’s TV cartoons, was technical authority for Pottermore — the Harry Potter digital experience, and founded some digital agencies. He creates novel flute gadgets sold in flute shops worldwide and recently co-presented a paper at Oxford on the future of organology and AI.

As a flautist, Peter has held principal and co-principal positions with the Ealing Symphony Orchestra for the past decade and the Oxford Chamber Orchestra for 25 years. He has performed with many UK orchestras, given recitals and recordings, appeared at festivals — including his favourite in Japan, where the abundance of delicious food was a highlight — and made numerous concerto appearances including most recently the CPE Bach D minor Wq.22 with Nonesuch, Carl Nielsen with Oxford Chamber Orchestra, and Lowell Liebermann No.1 with ESO.

His musical journey began at 13 with free lessons through the local Schools’ Music Service and playing in the East Riding Youth Orchestra — the kind of institutions he feels are vital in providing everyone the chance to have experiences and gain skills that reach far beyond the notes. After travelling to London for lessons, he continued at Somerville College, Oxford University, where he was appointed Organ Scholar — even though he didn’t play the organ. He also began conducting, starting with the chapel choir and directing the Ensemble of New Chamber Opera. Peter spent time last year in India conducting the Bengal Philharmonic.

He continues to be inspired by the teachers he has worked with — notably Ian Denley, David Butt, and Paul Edmund-Davies — and by his colleagues.

Peter serves as a trustee for Deal Music & Arts and Worthing Symphony Orchestra while continuing to perform, create, and consult in music and technology.
